The Sport Scholarship Scheme at the University of Hertfordshire is a premier program for international postgraduate students who excel in sports. Recognising the dedication required to compete at an elite level, the university awards this prize to ensure athletes do not have to compromise their academic ambitions for their sporting careers.
The scholarship is not a one-size-fits-all award; instead, it is tiered based on the athlete's current level of performance, ranging from county or regional level up to international representation. Beyond the financial tuition fee reduction, the scheme offers a holistic support system. This includes access to world-class training facilities at the Hertfordshire Sports Village, strength and conditioning coaching, physiotherapy, and lifestyle support. The university takes immense pride in its athletic community, frequently competing in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues. For students applying via NWC Education, this scheme is an ideal way to leverage their sporting talent to receive a subsidised, high-quality UK education while continuing to develop as an elite athlete in a professional and supportive environment.
To be eligible, a candidate must:
Level: Postgraduate Taught (Master's level).
Field of Study: Available across all academic schools (Business, Engineering, Law, etc.).
Priority Sports: While all sports are considered, priority is often given to BUCS sports such as Basketball, Football, Netball, Rugby, and Athletics.
The University of Hertfordshire is a leading modern university based in Hatfield, just 20 minutes from London.
