Overview / About the Scholarship

The GREAT Scholarship program is designed to help international students access world-class UK higher education. It aims to strengthen global academic exchange and promote the UK as a premier study destination for future leaders. For students from Pakistan, the program provides 12 dedicated postgraduate scholarships for the 2026-27 cycle.

Scholarship Value / Benefits

Financial Award: A minimum of £10,000 credited toward tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course.

Ambassadorial Role: Scholars act as ambassadors for the GREAT Scholarships and the British Council, enhancing their global profile.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, Pakistani applicants must:

Citizenship: Be a passport holder and a permanent resident of Pakistan.

Education: Hold a recognized undergraduate degree and have a strong interest in the proposed subject area.

University Offer: Have a conditional or unconditional offer for a full-time, one-year taught Master's degree at a participating university.

English Proficiency: Meet the specific English language requirements of the UK host institution

Motivation: Be motivated to engage with the UK as a scholar through personal and academic fulfillment.

Level & Field of Study

Level: One-year, full-time Postgraduate Taught (Master's) degrees.

Field: A wide range of subjects, though specific eligible courses are determined by each participating university. Some institutions may exclude certain courses like PGCEs or distance learning programs.

Required Documents

While requirements may vary by university, typical documents include:

Academic Transcripts: Certified copies of your undergraduate degree and mark sheets.

Identity Proof: A valid Pakistani international passport.

Personal Statement: A high-quality essay highlighting achievements and future career goals.

English Proficiency: Official test scores.

References: One or two letters of recommendation from professors or employers.

Video Pitch: Some universities may require a short video that explains your goals.

How to Apply

  1. Select Your University: Check which of the 12 participating UK universities offers your chosen course.
  2. Apply for Admission: Apply for a Master's degree at your chosen institution and secure an offer.
  3. Submit Scholarship Application: Follow the specific scholarship application instructions on the university’s website.
  4. Monitor Deadlines: Deadlines vary by institution. For example, UCL’s deadline is May 7, 2026, while others may extend to June 30, 2026.
  5. Await Results: Successful candidates are typically notified by the individual universities between June and July.
